Responsibilities:
As a Junior Contract UX/Design Researcher you will be responsible for supporting User Research across for products/projects in the New Product development pipeline (New Product Development is the Innovation arm that focuses on ideas for new products, services, and/or features ). To start, your primary responsibility will be to support, in some cases, lead ongoing user research (Qualitative) for 2 products; One in the “Smart Home”, and the other in Telepresence/Communication. These products are in early stages of development and you have will the opportunity to help shape both products as well as help grow the Design Research practice.
- Drafting research protocols and collateral
- Working closely with Product Marketing Managers and the Design/Engineering team to identify research goals/questions
- Synthesizing research findings into actionable insights
- Managing the Alpha/Beta Testers feedback collection plan
- Planning, Executing, and Synthesizing Usability Tests (moderated + unmoderated)
- Co-leading Generative/”Discovery” Research for early stage products (e.g. ethnography, contextual inquiries, semi-structured interviews, etc.)
- Must be able to work onsite at least 50% of the time
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience planning, executing, managing and synthesizing qualitative design research
- Strong communication skills - Verbal, written, and/or visual
- Ability to be self-directed and work on their own when projects require it
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and deal with ambiguity
- Ability to identify and brainstorm the research approach based on the needs of the team (Inclusive of time, effort, and available resources)
- Ability to work collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team
- Minimum Bachelor’s in Design, HCI, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Behavioral Sciences or relevant experience
- Experience working within a Design/Creative Environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with planning and facilitating workshops
- Visual communication skills
- Familiarity with UX/Product design
- Experience working in Tech or startup environment
